Data Studio Connector

Nextanalytics gives access to data from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google Analytics, Adwords, Bing, and Facebook Ads and more. The service is free, but there are additional options and capacity available to paying customers.

The following paragraphs describe how to configure and then connect to the service from Google Data Studio.

Configure Your Accounts and Default Profiles

  1. Visit http://app.nextanalytics.com
  2. Register a new account
    • Email ID
    • Password

You will need to know these values when you add a Data Source in Google Data Studio.

  1. Choose a data service
    • Facebook
    • Instagram
    • Twitter
    • Adwords
    • Others to be added occasionally and depending on your license

(choose at least one, but later on, you can more)

  1. Login to the data service, this provides the authentication phase, where you give permission for nextanalytics software access data on your behalf
  2. Each service requires that you choose default values, which will be used for fetching data. You do not need to enter values for reports that you do not plan to use with Google Data Services.
  3. This summarizes some of your choices:
    • Facebook Fan Page for Posts analysis
    • Facebook Specific Post
    • Facebook Group
    • Facebook Domain
    • Facebook App
    • Facebook Fan Page for Insights metrics
    • Instagram Account, Location, and Hashtag to search for
    • Twitter Account and search term
    • Adwords Customer ID
  4. After you’ve chosen a value for a service, be sure to click the Save button. That establishes your choice as the default value for Google Data Services data refreshes.
  5. Click Actions and then Date Range. Choose a date range that you are sure will have some data for what you’ve chosen, otherwise your data connector will not be able to determine what the data columns that are available. Advice: Choose 1 month.
  6. TEST YOUR CHOICES
    • click the button that downloads data
    • Start the Download
    • The download starts and you will receive an email in your inbox when it’s done. This is one good way to test to see if you’re going to get the same data in Google Data Studio.
    • It usually takes a minute or two.

How To Connect to Google Data Studio

  1. Start Google Data Studio
  2. Choose “Data Sources”
  3. Choose “+” to add a data source
  4. Choose “Add Custom Connector”
  5. Paste the following Deployment ID:

  1. Click “TEST ADD-ON”
  2. Click the newly added “Community Connector” named “nextanalytics-data-studio-a1”
  3. Choose from one of the following Datasets. For a demo or trial, the best choice something simple like Posts (bolded below).
    • Facebook Group
    • Facebook Fan Page Posts Comments
    • Facebook Fan Page Posts Daily Reactions
    • Facebook Fan Page Posts Engaged Users
    • Facebook Fan Page Posts
    • Facebook Fan Page Posts Reactions
    • Facebook Fan Page Posts User Counts
    • Facebook Fan Page Posts Media
    • Facebook Specific Post Engaged Comments
    • Facebook Specific Post Engaged Users
    • Facebook Specific Post Engaged Most Commented
    • Facebook Specific Post Engaged Most Liked
    • Facebook Specific Post Engaged Reaction Summary
    • Instagram Likers
    • Instagram Comments
    • Instagram Search
    • Instagram Likers by Hashtag
    • Twitter Search

  4. Email ID that you used with app.nextanalytics.com
  5. Password that you used with app.nextanalytics.com
  6. Click the Connect button
    • There may be a wait of about five to ten seconds while the query executed and a list of data columns are obtained.
      • A list of the data columns will appear in Google Data Studio
      • If it returns nothing, it is because there was no data for the range of dates you chose in app.nextanalytics.com.
      • Re-visit app.nextanalytics.com, choose “Actions” then choose “Date Range”. Pick a broader set of dates.
    • Click CREATE REPORT
    • Click ADD TO REPORT
    • Click the Table icon on the ribbon bar
    • Drag your mouse to form a wide rectangle in the drawing area
      • GDS will use the first text column and first numeric column as defaults.
      • You can easily add/remove more dimensions and metrics.
    • The refresh button in GDS will fetch fresh data. Remember that you are downloading from multiple services (such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), so it might not be instant, depending on the pages you’ve chosen.
  7. If you experience a timeout, you might need to upgrade your account with NEXT Analytics Corporation.

Implementation Notes

You can add more than one instance of this Data Source, each one with its own parameters. That lets you combine different kinds of data in the same GDS Report.

This particular data source supports only single profiles. If you need multiple profiles, you can request upgrade your account with NEXT Analytics corporation –> you will be given access to another data source which lets you have multiple profiles in a single report, and more choices in data sets.
